Worth

Merriam-Webster defines Worth as the value equivalent to that of someone or something under consideration; the level at which someone or something deserves to be valued or rated .

There are over 100 scriptures in the bible that speak of worth, more importantly, self-worth. You may be wondering where I am going. Well, let's talk about worth. How do you see yourself? How do you view your worth? What Christ says about worth?

Speaking from personal experience, when I first decided to give my life to Christ. I didn't feel worthy. I read what the word said about renewal, him not keeping a record of wrong yet, I was skeptical. I would tell myself why would someone so powerful, loving, and giving, Want Me? I didn't feel worthy to be in his presence. I didn't feel worthy to even pray to him. When I did fall into sin, after confessing that I was "new and had his spirit". I doubted whether continuing my walk with Christ, was worth it.

Yet, even when I wanted to walk away, I didn't give up. I continued to press even when I fell. At church during the altar calls, I went and cried out to him. Because my heart yearned for something more. More than having a boyfriend and investing all of my time into a relationship that would end. More than vanity, shopping, intimacy (sex), and more than what a person could give me. More than any materialistic item that over time would lose value and become worthless.

I had to learn that I was worthy. This meant every time I went to the altar I had to go with an open heart. An open heart to receive him, his love, his grace, and his spirit. I had to learn nothing is impossible for him. Even my ugliest mess or behavior he already knew about it and unlike men, he wouldn't hold it against me. That perceiving myself as unworthy was disrespectful to him as his word says in Genesis 1:27 (KJV):

“So God created man in his own image, in the image of God,

created he him; male and female created he them.”

I had to learn if I am created in his image that no monetary value or materialistic items could be placed on my life. None of that defined my worth. Yet, as I am his child, I have value to him.

"For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. John 3:16 (KJV)"

I had to understand that I have so much value to him that he would sacrifice his son for me!

I say to you today, you have WORTH, you are worthy and valuable. Don't ever underestimate your worth.

If you need to be reminded of it or just need him. Go to him with an open heart and you will learn that your worth shouldn't be fashioned in the things of this world. Yet, let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think and view your worth. Your worth will be in him.

Believe it!

As his word says that you are fearfully and wonderfully made. He created you to be a light to others and the salt of the earth. You are worthy! You have worth!! I pray that you continue to move forward with Christ and understand your worth!

"Embrace God, Love You, & Be Fashioned For Him!"
